- "Great class! A super way to begin digital photography before purchasing a digital camera."
- "The instructor was excellent - very knowledgable and helpful. I have not yet bought a digital camera, so some of the data will have to wait until I do. But based on what I've seen so far, I'd like to take the other online course the instructor offers. I was very impressed."
- "A very nice introductory course."
- "The course offered me what I was looking for and had been unable to obtain elsewhere. I plan to go on from here to learn more and become more proficient in uaing my digital camera. Thank you."
- "I really enjoyed this course and found it very informative and helpful. Based on other evaluations, I had feared it would be too basic, but I learned things in each lesson. My only disapointment was that for a series of reasons I was unable to obtain a digital camera to work with until the end of the class. Now I want to really dive in and go through all the assignments again. For me, at the level I was at, this was a terrific course and I enjoyed the teaching style."
- "Very informative and interesting class. Thanks for all your help!"
- "As a senior, and new digital user, I learned ample, good, information on the use of my new digital camera. Thank you."
- "Beverly is a very good instructor and comes across as a very caring and considerate person in her responses to all the student's questions. The lesson material and supplemental material is outstanding. She can speak to those who don't even have a digital camera as well as those who may be professional photographers. Anyone thinking of buying a digital camera or sticking with their 35 mm camera and a scanner can benefit from the course."
- "The subject is very interesting and useful. However, I feel the instructor turned the class into an excellent course."
- "I started with a digital camera my department owned and began taking photos for my job. I ended up with my own camera for work and personal photos. My department signed me up for this class and I think their money was well-spent. I learned a lot and have already seen an improvement in my photos. Thank you very much."
- "A good course for understanding the basics of a digital camera and what it can do."
- "I had no knowledge of digital photography prior to taking this course, and feel I gained a good beginning foundation in this area. Beverly Schultz is extremely knowledgeable, displays warm interpersonal skills in her interaction with those taking this course, and presents the course material in an interesting and lively manner. I appreciate all of the great references she provided."
- "This is the first course I have taken for ME! I looked forward to taking a class just for fun, and I really did enjoy it. I can honestly say that I have already begun to use the information I have learned, and the instructor provided us with enough information and leads to go as far as we wish to. This has me more enthused."
- "I have enjoyed this class very much. I learned many things that I can apply immediately. The content was easy to read and understand. When can I expect Discover Digital Photography II? Thank You Beverly, your information is great!"
- "I learned a great deal from this course. It was my first on-line class, and was a good experience."
- "I enjoyed the course & it gave me a better handle on the subject that I didn't have before especially as I am 78 Does the college have a next step up course? Thank you"
- "Really enjoyed this course and will definitely consider taking more online programs in the future. Thanks to the Instructor for her time in developing the course and taking time out of her own busy schedule to give others this opportunity!"
- "This was an excellent course. It covered a broad range of topics in digital photography thus providing a sound basis on which to develop my knowledge and skill. Extensive supplementary material was provided and interesting assignments. Not having time to explore all of these during the time of the course, I have downloaded all of them (and printed all the lessons) so that I may refer back to this wealth of material in less hectic times. Within a day I leave for Switzerland and, of course, my digital camera goes with me, plus plenty of storage. This course gave me the push and courage to tackle Photoshop LE and although I have by no means mastered all the features, I was able to print 13 quite good photos of whales and other wildlife from a trip to Baja California. They are now framed and hanging on my wall. Thank you Beverly, for a most enjoyable course. I hope to see another course offered by you in the future."
- "This has been an oustanding class and will greatly improve my ability in photography, both digital and film!"
- "Good course and a nice instructor with a great attitude -- very helpful in the discussion area. Could have used a bit more work on image resolution vs. print resolution -- this seems to be the toughest area to understand -- and a bit more technical stuff might be good. Overall I enjoyed the class though and plan to use this info to do more research before buying a digital camera, etc.! Thanks a lot, Bev!"
- "Just what I was looking for - a how-to on digital cameras for people who are not expert photographers. The on-line format was convenient and easy to use."
- "Excellent course. Well organized. Photography was my hobby some 30 years ago. Since then worked with computers/software. This course filled many gaps. Thanks much. Also very much like course format so I can work on it when I have the time."
- "Excellent!!! Good text material that is current and well presented. The assignement and supplementary material enriched the course. Good educational value."
- "At first, I was leery about taking an online course and even felt that I would have done better in a classroom; however, after two lessons I quickly changed my mind. I liked being able to print the lessons and study at my convenience. I really enjoyed the course."
- "This course was a great introduction to digital photography. It was very helpful with the termonology, how to pick out a camera for your needs, and which computer programs will meet your needs when working on the digital desktop. The only problem that I did have is that some of the material is not as updated as it should be. Overall this was a great course for anyone interested in digital photography."
- "Great course! Really helpful information and tips. I thoroughly enjoyed this course."
- "This was a very informative and enjoyable course. The writing style held my interest. I found the supplemental material and assignments very useful. Thanks for a great course!"
- "This course taught me exactly what to look for in purchasing a new digital camera. I wasn't sure I even wanted one before the course. Now I know I do!"
- "I learned a lot about the special features of my Sony DSC-P5 that I had not bothered to use before. Had fun with the class."
- "I really learned a lot by taking this course- I know that in order for me to improve my photography- I will have to have a lot of patience- but at least now I have a better understanding of the functions of my camera and when something comes up- I have a better knowledge of the terms and can find a solution on my own now- its not like trying to read a foreign language."
- "I would like to add a long list of superlatives for the course. Especially appreciated: the encouragement and helpful attitude, especially for dummy questions; the course is eminently user-friendly. I did print huge amounts of info for later use; actually the fitting "lab" work I wish to do might be interminable. I'll do the follow up course, even tho, especially tho, photography has been a favorite hobby since childhood. About every three months these days it's a brand new ballgame. Excellent, and thanks!!"
- "I knew nothing, really, about digital photography or cameras when I started. My knowledge was so limited I couldn't even ask questions. Now I feel competent to choose a camera and discuss the subject intelligently with people already using the technology. With the lessons, links, recommended books and other resources gleaned from this course I will practice all of the methods and techniques at my leisure. Many thanks."
- "I enjoyed this course and it was very helpful in my selection and purchase of a digital camera that meets my needs. Using some of the supplemental information provided in the course enabled me to save more on the purchase of a camera than the course cost."
- "This was EXACTLY what I needed to get me started with digital photography. I'd taken some photos prior to taking the class with a borrowed camera. I've learned what's necessary to make a wise purchasing decision this Fall. Thanks for the great information!"
- "I can't remember when I have been so delighted with a class. The supplemental material alone could keep me busy for several lifetimes. It goes on and on - a wealth of information. Bev kept it facinating every inch of the way. This class is the school's best kept secret - and what a bargain! If Bev teaches it, I'll sign up for it no matter the cost. I can't think of one suggestion to improve this class. How do you improve on perfection?"
- "I got great value out of this program. I'm new to digital photography and am now able to offer advice to people who think they know everything! I'm not always available to attend classes on a set day for a number of weeks and this solves that problem so well."
- "Beverly was very knowledgeable and easy to work with. Even thru the net her demeanor came thru as a pleasant and energetic person. She was responsive to all questions making the me feel like no question was too dumb to ask. I would highly recommend her to others."
- "Thank you for a very informative and interesting class."
- "I found this to be helpful and make digital photography less threating. It helped me to understand the owners manual."
- "Thank you - excellent course! This was my first online course and I enjoyed it very much, and taking the final exam at 2:30 a.m. suited my schedule!"
- "An engrossing course providing indepth information enabling me to more fully understand what my digital camera is and can do."

- "I learned so much from this class. I have felt much more confident taking photos. I will eventually take Beverly's other photography class. Thank you very much for your help!"
- "Excellent class. The instructor gave me all the information I needed and answered any questions I had. This is my second class with her and would recommend her classes to everyone -- including taking any online classes -- very convenient and easy to keep up with."
- "I really enjoyed the Style of the course. The information was excellent. The assignments were very informative and will give me a source of extensive further information."
- "I already own a digital camera and I thought the class was very informational and would like to take more. I would strongly recomend this class to others."
- "I was very pleased to see that my first online course was going to be compatible to a real classroom as far as discussion and workload. I always thought online classes were not worth my time, but I feel like I spent enough time on this course to justify calling it a "course." I would definitely take another class."
- "I enjoyed this course very much and felt the instructor was very helpful. Whenever I had a question, I was sure to get an answer."
- "I was hesitant about taking this class online...I thought I would need to learn about digital photography in a physical classroom. However, I am really excited about what I have learned so far and you have answered so many questions for me already. I'm looking forward to learning more!"
- "I am enjoying your class...spent 4 hours on lessons 3 and 4 Sunday with camera in hand....family is starving!!!!!!"
- "Beverly, you have provided the best web sites and references of all. I have a 3" ring notebook chock-full of fabulous information - all above and beyond your wonderfully written, informative, and enthusiastic course materials. Thanks bunches!!"
- "Just wanted to say thank you so much for teaching this course....I have learned soooo much in the past 6 weeks. It more than met my expectations!! I learned enough to feel very confident in making a purchase of my first digital camera. And, I feel very comfortable trying out the features. The discussion section was wonderful. I learned from my own questions as well as those from the other students. I definitely plan on taking your Secrets of Better Photography course and the Digital Photography Output course to continue learning about this topic."
- "I have just taken the exam and printed my completion letter. Only now am I realizing what a positive experience this class has been. I miss it already! I still need to spend a lot of time using and absorbing all the information you've given us, beverly, but i have decided to keep myself learning and practicing by volunteering to take pictures for the websites of two local animal shelters of the animals there who need good homes. Wish us (the animals and me) luck!"
- "Thank you for an informative and exciting trip into the realm of digital photography! Your course answered so many questions for me. Your rich and varied list of additional resources are so complete. I know I will be referring to many of the sites you have suggested in this class. I love your easy-to-read writing style. You simplified some of the more technical topics and added your own personal stories."
- "This was my first on-line course and I really enjoyed it. The material provided was up-to-date and always interesting to read, I definitely liked the writing style - not too much, not too little; the instructor and the assistants were always available to answer the questions of the students. I will definitely keep taking online classes, it's a great format and fits a busy lifestyle."
- "This was my first on line course and I wasn't sure if I could learn outside the traditional classroom setting. It was a good experience and I was able to gain new information. I took the course for my own enrichment. I feel that I can now make an informed decision about the camera I want to buy and my storage issues were answered. That was my biggest concern about going digital (I don't like to change). Beverly was an excellent instructor and the teaching assistants were also very knowledgable. Thanks for a great course!!"
- "I love your teaching style! The quizzes at the end of each chapter are helpful and let me know if I mastered the skills and retained the knowledge that I had learned in each lesson."
- "Awesome course! Helped me with the purchase of my new camera and the overall functionality of it from the start. Made the purchase exciting not overwhelming or frustrating. THANK YOU!"
- "I enjoyed the course very much. The material presented was concise and informative. There were areas that were strictly a personal review for me and other areas that held great new information. I particulary found Lessons 11 & 12 quite inspiring! I look forward to pursuing the area of photography! Thank you!"
- "This course far exceeded my expectations in information. I had stated many times that I would not change to digital photography. After this course I now am excited about entering the digital world. The course has helped me decide on the camera I want to purchase as well as other equipment I didn't realize I needed. It also gave me wonderful hints and suggestions for photography in general. I now also feel more confident in using the internet. Thank you so much."
- "I have found this course easy to understand, very informative (especially with the purchase of my new digital camera-thank you so much). The quizzes were great, as was the final exam-NOT bogged down with useless questions. I would recommend this course to those interested in Digital Photography."
- "Thanks Beverly....This course has helped me to expand my knowledge about photography and has stirred up my interest again in this art form........I'm very excited to have taken your course and to pick up my hobby again."
- "My husband is or was the digital expert in our family. Now I can pick up the camera and at least take the basic picture. I throughly enjoyed the course, and it has been very beneficial to me. I cannot wait to put into practice all that I have learned. I am also anxious to experiment with the digital dark-room. Great class."
- "I was already familiar with scanning, shooting digital, and editing with software. I learned more technical details in these areas. What I really needed to learn this course taught very well: printing, inks, paper and permanancy of photos for the future. I was pleasantly surprised by the historical aspects of photography presented here, giving an excellent context for the extreme changes in photography we are experiencing today. Well worth the time and money. Thank you, Beverly and TA's!"
- "A wonderful class for beginners as well as advanced photographer's! You simply couldn't ask for a better instructor! I would HIGHLY recommend this course for anyone interested in the field of photography! I have learned so much and cannot wait to put this new knowledge to work! Thank you so much!"
- "My wife enrolled me in this course as her Christmas gift to me. To be truthful I was not that thrilled or confident about taking this course; however,I'm happy to say that I am hooked. I had just unpacked my HP Photosmart 22 camera which I purchased back in August along with a printer back in August. My only knowlege of photography was a year and a half of photographing brittle newspapers at the Libray of Congress in 1972-73. Last week I found myself shooting photos with my tripod and SLR on a cold night in the middle of Times Square. No one even noticed me--it was surreal. I've discovered something that, for me, is meditative, challenging and enjoyable at the same time. Photography now gives me the feeling that I'm stretching time and at this point in my life that is a plus. I want to thank you for this course, Ms. Schulz--and my dear wife."
- "I thoroughly enjoyed this course and have already recommended it to several people. Beverly and the TAs were always warm and encouraging. It was my first experience with an online class and it was definitely a positive one. I'm already signed up for the '... Better Photographs' class and looking forward to taking many more classes in the future :-)"
- "I loved this course!!! It is my first long distance learning experience and it was a bit of a challenge to stay on task, but I finished!! Not only that, I learned SO Much! Thanks Beverly and Eric for a very positive helpful experience! I'll see y'all soon in another class."
